Series Description
This series began in September 2025, the night after my foot reconstructive surgery.
I didn't plan it. I picked up a pen and something poured out — creatures stripped of skin, beings reduced to structure, forms that looked like they came from somewhere between a medical scan and a dream.
I had been living inside my own body differently that year. Pain had made me hyper-aware of what lies beneath the surface — bone, tendon, the invisible architecture that holds us upright. At the same time I was watching the people of Palestine refuse to stop living. Refuse to stop being human. Refuse to disappear.
Both things entered the work simultaneously.
The series moves from darkness toward something I can only call grace. The first piece is grief. The last — for now — is a swan, stripped of every feather, revealing only what holds it together.
That feels honest to me. That feels like the most true thing I know how to make.

About the artwork
Named Grace after the majestic swans of Denmark, it is a part of the X-rays series and holds a personal story that followed me throughout the years I've been living in Denmark. Below, you can read more about where the inspiration came from.
🌐 ENGLISH VERSION
The first time I visited Kolding in 2010, I noticed the swans by the lake. They didn't fly south. They stayed. I thought: they've become Danish. People had fed them so long, given them so much warmth, that the instinct to flee had been replaced by something else — a quiet decision that this place was good enough. More than good enough.
I understood them well.
The swan in this drawing is stripped back to the most fundamental. No feathers, no smooth surface, no elegance concealing something. Just the structure. What holds a being together — regardless of where it came from, and regardless of whether it chose to stay.
That is perhaps the most Danish thing I know: that grace is not something you're born with. It's something that holds.

Da jeg første gang besøgte Kolding i 2010, lagde jeg mærke til svanerne ved søen. De trak ikke sydpå. De blev. Jeg tænkte: de er blevet fordanskede. Folk havde fodret dem så længe, givet dem så meget varme og omsorg, at instinktet til at flygte var blevet afløst af noget andet - en stille beslutning om at dette sted var godt nok. Mere end godt nok
Jeg forstod dem godt.
Svanen i denne tegning er skrællet tilbage til det allermest grundlæggende. Ingen fjer, ingen glat overflade, ingen elegance der skjuler noget. Bare strukturen. Det der holder et væsen sammen - uanset hvor det kom fra, og uanset om det valgte at blive.
Det er på en måde det mest danske jeg ved: at nåde ikke er noget man er født med. Det er noget der holder
